Profile: Patrick

Personal background
I am from California.
I am 78 years old, and young at heart.
I entered the California State Park System as a State Park Attendant in 1957, and retired as Superintendent of an area in 1985.
My wife and I enjoy State and Federal parks, and go camping as often as possible.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am one of those people who, when a child, looked up at the star filled night sky wondering who and or what was there. Yes I believe extraterrestrial life exits. It appears to me that there is a good chance the SETI program will discover the existance. As rapidly as we are advanceing in applied science the time of dicovery could be in our very near future.
There are alway the chance of benefit and danger in the discovery of anything. But, if we can make a contact, to me this means that who we make the contact with is a least as advanced as we, and possibly considerably more.
Also a very good chance that their world no longer exists, due to unknown numbers of light years messages may have to travel.
If we are not, we should be transmitting a beacon for others to find. The same information that was sent on an outer space venture, that is still on its way to wherever.
I am interested in the possibility of the discovery of life, other than our own.
