Personal background |
Hi, I'm currently serving in Scotland with the RAF as a RADAR operator. I'm due to leave the services next year to look after my two children; Benjamin and Katie-Louise. My wife will stay in the RAF and I will basically become a "stay-at-home" dad until both our children have gone to school.
I'm actually using the SETI Driver rather than the normal SETI@Hone screensaver. The only reason I decided to do it this way was because the SETI Driver allowes you to stack multiple units.
Current system running SETI Driver
AMD Athlon 2000 XP
Windows 98

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Like so may people have said before, we have to be pretty conceited to think that we are alone in the universe.
Even if you just say that 1% of all stars have planets, of those planets, 1% are capable of supporting life, and even if 1% of those do have some form of life, apparently it still works out at millions if not billions of life bearing planets.
I'm not too sure about actual travel between the stars using manned craft. However, unmanned "Probes" or Scouts or even radio signals are a much more viable solution. |
