Personal background
Hello fellow ET hunters. My name is Lewis, I'm a 40ish automotive factory worker from the midwest, USA.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have very mixed opinions as to the exsistance of ETI. There must be somebody out there, but I doubt if we will ever make contact. The distances are just too vast to comprehend, let alone "build" a device to traverse, weather physically or even by some kind wave be it radio, micro, X-ray, laser, or what ever. That doesn't mean I don't believe they'er there; just too far away to comunicate. Even if we did make contact there is no way to know if they would be any smarter or "wiser" than us. Suppose we did find someone! Great! Now what? Around here the rule is "Eat or be eaten!" It's probably the same everywhere. As for us sending a beacon or message into space, I say save the money. We've been sending signals into space for decades via radio, TV, and radar. If anybody's listening, they'll hear us sooner or later. By now you are probably wondering why I even bother running S@H? I can't not do it. Just the fact that maybe we might just get lucky, and maybe hear something from somewhere just like someone else might hear us, is just to cool! I do believe S@H is a worth while project. If it wasn't, why bother building space stations and deep space probes? So keep the faith and keep on crunching!
