2. Well we've been doing so since the first radio signals were transmited anyway so what's the harm. As to what should be sent, well how about "Hi your not alone out here".
3. I'm a romantic and would love to be the one to say I had a hand in something as huge as discovery. It's a good use of funds and time if only to promote hope, and who really knows maybe at sometime answers. SETI should use the new telescope NASA is putting up to run some searches.
