Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Of course extraterrestrial life exists - there is such a vast space there that it is not possible for something not to evolve on one of the trillions of planets out there (Earth is a best example ;-) ). It is very difficult to say when will we discover extraterrestrial life - unfortunately most probably never... Benefits and dangers? I think they are obvious to anybody who reads good SF literature (for example Stanislaw Lem).

2. Of course we should transmit a beacon for others to find in case this happens - chances are that civilizations better developed than ours will be also more developed in the matter of cooperation and coexistance than for example Spanish were when they destroyed Aztecs and Inkas... We should send info about us - our history, our place (Earth) and about our opennes, loneliness and longing for finding brothers in space.

3. I run it because I believe it is a good project unifying people from different countries and focusing them on achieving a common goal - it is good to cooperate above borders - it is much better than fight against each other and lead wars. I do not believe that we will find anything else then just that during this project's execution - still it is a hidden treasure.
