Although I studied math I work as a translator. At my 40 I feel too old to return back to the science though I dream about it quite often.
I když jsem vystudoval matematiku, pracuji jako pÅ™ekladatel. Ve svých ÄtyÅ™iceti se cÃtÃm pÅ™ÃliÅ¡ starý, abych se vracel zpátky k vÄ›dÄ›, i když o tom docela Äasto snÃm.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
The older I grow the less terrestrial intelligence I find around and sometimes I question myself, whether it is wise at all starting with this search in the Space and not here on the Earth.
I remember the first programmable calculator TI57, the first ZX80, ZX Spectrum, at the university I used Hollerith cards for programming a hall computer, my first PC had 1MB memory and 40MB hard disk so I wish being able to tell my grandchildren that I saw everything from the very beginning. In the age of SETI@HOME Phase 9 I will be able to say proudly that I contributed with my negligible amount to SETI@HOME, when it had started. They will not believe the senile old man anyway. But never mind - I was there.
ÄŒÃm jsem starÅ¡Ã, tÃm ménÄ› pozemské inteligence nacházÃm okolo, a nÄ›kdy si Å™Ãkám, jestli je moudré hledat inteligenci ve vesmÃru a ne tady na Zemi.
Pamatuji prvnà programovatelnou kalkulaÄku TI57, prvnà ZX80, ZX Spectrum, na univerzitÄ› jsem programoval sálový poÄÃtaÄ pÅ™es dÄ›rné Å¡tÃtky Hollerith, moje prvnà PC mÄ›lo 1 MB pamÄ›ti a 40 MB na pevném disku, takže bych si přál, abych mohl svým vnouÄatům jednou vyprávÄ›t, že jsem vidÄ›l vÅ¡echno úplnÄ› od zaÄátku. Ve vÄ›ku SETI@HOME Fáze 9 budu moci hrdÄ› Å™Ãci, že jsem svou zanedbatelnou troÅ¡kou pÅ™ispÄ›l projektu SETI@HOME, když zaÄÃnal. StejnÄ› nebudou senilnÃmu starci věřit. Ale to nevadà - byl jsem pÅ™i tom.
