Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
So far as I am concerned , anyone who beleives that we are the only example of life is either too religous or just mad!
To even entertain the thought that in the seemingly infinite vastness of space the earth is the only planet that harbors life is ridiculous. The very fact that we are here is proof enough that life must exist elsewhere.

The real question is not "does life exist elsewhere", but "Where is it, and how do we find it ..." I beleive that one day we will find undisputable evidence of life outside of the earth. And I think that we will discover that it is a lot closer to home than we realise. Look at the discoveries we are continually finding on Mars, Look at the things we find in seemingly hostile environments on earth Only the other week , NASA discovered bacteria living in the outer atmosphere of earth.

I think that the number of people actively running SETI is an indication of the readiness of the human race to accept the idea of an extra terrestrial intelligence.
