Personal background
Wells, there's quite a lot about me people should know. Of course, only my close friends or relatives should know about. Strangers on the internet, I'll leave it blank.
I LOVE SPACE! Everything about it intrigues me, from the NASA's hubble space telescope, to this SETI institute.
The career path I have decided on is to become an astronaut. First, I'll go for an aeronautical engineering degree first. After, wells, since my eyes arent 20/20, I'll have to wait till a new thing come in that miraculously cures people's eyesight.
For other people who wants to become an astronaut, it's not an easy thing, but you need to study and study, and become the best of the best in your school. I hope everyone lives their dream. Cya!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe extraterrestrial life does exist. Of course, we'll probably never find it in our life time. Considering the trillions of trillions of possible stars and planets in the universe. It'll be hard, and it'll sure take a hell of a long time, but I believe us as human will eventually prove that God did not just made us intelligent beings. There might be other civilizations, I mean, the universe is big, is it not? Wouldn't it seem a waste just to put us in. I'm pretty sure we'll never be able to explore every single planet or star.
Humans probably should transmit a beacon, of course, the probablity of it working is less than finding a winning lottery ticket on the floor one day (Hey, it happened before). We should probably send a description of every single one of our cultures and the different races on Earth.
I run SETI@home not because I hope to find an extraterristrial being, but because I hope I can help others who have devoted their lives to finding it, believing that we are not alone in the universe. I am helping their dream become reality, I don't pay much, since I usually run my computer when I'm doing my homework. I believe this is a great project that rallies people to inspire them and give them hope. Great Job, and keep up the fabulous work!
