Personal background
Hi, I'm Stefan, node
and arwez are my handles on the net. I've spent 28 years on this planet, 8 of
which in Germany the nation of my birth, and 20 years in the Netherlands the nation
I've chosen to make my home. I'm an Interaction Designer, that means I deal in
the how and why behind user interfaces and am generally interested in finding
new ways to do stuff with the net. I script html, coldfusion, flash and lingo, a bit of javascript and java, and a dash off stylesheets.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
From all I've read
on the alt.sci.seti
newsgroup SETI@home probably has only very limited chances of actually finding
ETI, because of the magnitude of strength required for any signal to reach earth.
However futile SETI@home will turn out to be, I think searching is a very important
thing to do nonetheless. I'm a great fan of almost anything to do with Sci-Fi
and would love to find ET in my lifetime.

Maybe if enough people
around the world are searching for ET any aliens watching us might finally be
convinced humanity as a whole might actually be ready for visitor from outer
space, something humanity has not really proven satisfactorily yet, I think.
