Profile: Pilot

Personal background
I am 64 years old and having a lot of fun with life now. I worked from age 18 in the computer industry, first in the military, and after returning to college in 1959. My career took me from application software to OS software internals on GE, DEC, and Honeywell/Bull hardware and finally writing front-end communication processor software for main frames.
I enjoy hunting, hiking, backpacking, traveling and of course the love of my life is flying small planes. I earned my private pilots license at age 50, and have not grown tired of it yet. I have always been fascinated by telescopes and gazing at the planets and stars when able.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. There is no question in my mind that there is other intelligent life in the universe, just whether we will discover them, or they will discover us first.
2. We should send a beacon with a bit more intelligent content than our current radio & TV broadcast contain.
3. I run SETI@home because it just might help resolve the mystery.
