Personal background
I'm a 19-year-old student hailing from Quebec City, in Quebec, at the moment, and now the town of Waterloo, Ontario. I am a student at the University of Waterloo studying in Computer Engineering. I enjoy gaming and programming, as well as rising up to a challenge. Well I think that's all I want to say about myself... *whisper whisper* Yeah, that's it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life, by pure statistical probability must exist! Even extraterrestrial intelligent life. there are too many galaxies and stars out there for us to be completely alone...the thing is, we're too far away from each other...I'm doubtful that we will find anything out there. However, if one does not try, one cannot succeed, and as such I am participating in this project. This isn't only about finding aliens, though. The whole SETI@Home project expanded the field of distributed computing to a whole new level. The implications of this are astounding. Millions of small computers linked together to form one of the most powerful supercomputers on the planet...and that in itself is very very cool. of course, finding extraterrestrial life capable of sending radio pulses towards the stars is always a fun bonus, eh? :)
