Personal background
I'm a 22 year old from Perth in Australia. Currently I'm studying Biology at Murdoch University. I hope to go on to Zoology in the future and also have an interest in cryptozoology, geology, astronomy, chemistry and metrology. I found out about SETI in a lecture at uni. The unit covered topics such as science-fiction writing, extra-terrestrial intelligence, and how humans could possibly colonise other planets. The main computer at Murdoch runs SETI during it's idle time.

Some other things about me, I'm a bit of an 80's left behind and avidly collect My Little Pony and related items (my favourite toy from my childhood). I am a member of the local university Science-fiction clubs, although I don't read an awful lot of sci-fi, I like hanging around the strange people who comprise the rest of the club. :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI@home is a brilliant idea. It's cheaper and more efficient than having one big computer to do all the work and gets everyone involved in the search. I think it's certainly a possibility that ET life exists. But the chances of us finding it are EXTREMELY slim. And when we do I'm sure it'll be nothing like we ever imagined.

I think efforts should be made to carry out paleantological and archeological digs on Mars. Mars used to have water, and used to have seismic activity, two of the essentials for life. I think it's quite likely that millions, or maybe even billions of years ago Mars had life, but it eventually moved out of it's "goldilocks" position and Earth took that place.
