Personal background
I live in NYC and I am an English teacher of grades 6-8 in a middle school in Long Island City, NY. I have always had an interest in science and whether there is life beyond our little planet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it is possible that life exists elsewhere in the universe, but I don't think that humans have the technology to find life out there yet. Someday, maybe in the 21st century humans will be able to travel to other worlds to look for life. One of the dangers might be not being able to communicate. I don't know how we would benefit, maybe from some advanced medicine or science.
We should send a beacon about life as it exists on this planet like descriptions of a man, a woman and a child, and maybe try to describe the continentents. the oxygen and water that we have too. I began to run Seti when I first got a computer back in 1999. I had originally heard about Seti from watching a science program on T.V.
