Personal background
I was born and grew up in Southern California. I spent the last five years working as an Internet Producer for The Walt Disney Company in both Los Angeles, and in Paris, France. Just recently, I left my position with Disney to create my own company, an Internet domain name consulting firm we are calling wwww.domainconcerns.com. I'm also in the midst of a trip around the world. I've just spent the last five months touring around Australia, and I can testify that it is even possible to process SETI packets from the Australian Outback! I leave my laptop on all night (when we are camping in powered camping sites) just to crunch SETI data. Another point of interest is that I introduced my Father to SETI@home the last time I was in California and now he is processing SETI data packets as well using the same account. As we both use the same account we are both able to process data packets with increased speed (not to mention that its nice to have something new in common with Dad!). About six months ago I created a user group called "American Citizens Abroad". Unfortunately, I don't have any members yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Am I really the only U.S. Citizen expat in the program?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We do not yet have enough data to determine if extraterrestrial do or do not exist. Or, to be more specific, if we have accumulated the data, the results have yet to be returned by SETI@home users.

It seems to me very likely indeed that the chemical elements and specialized circumstances required to generate and harbor life around others stars are not that rare after all, and that intelligent life in the universe is plentiful. Even these very recent discoveries of planets around other star systems seem to be very encouraging evidence. Nevertheless, at this stage my speculation is pure fantasy and wishful thinking. Until we have a scientifically verified signal from another star system then the only opinion that I am entitled to have is a purely speculative one. Nothing but wishful thinking.

The SETI program is a search for truth. Perhaps we will learn that the galaxy is littered with advanced technical civilizations, or perhaps we will grow to realize that there are no extraterrestrial signals of any kind. Only a scientific analysis, such as SETI can reveal this truth to us one way or the other. This is a historic and unprecedented truth for us as homo sapiens. Whether we are alone, or living in a galaxy full of neighbors, this truth will help us to understand our role in the universe better than ever before, and when the truth be known. A very good question to ask ourselves is whether or not the human race is even equipped for a discovery of this magnitude. I'll let you guess my opinion on the subject.
