Personal background |
I am a 36 year old male living just south of Louisville, KY. I am a phone jockey for a major insurance company (subsidiary). My hobbies include computers, electronics, reading and general science. I am running Seti on a dual core, and been running it for years, even back to Seti classic. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think that there is intelligent life SOMEWHERE else in the universe, although it may not be within communication range with us. That or God is wasting a tremendous amount of space (beautiful space though). Running Seti@home is the only real contribution I can make to discover any other life, plus it gives me a great excuse to upgrade my machines and have a cable modem. As to the question some have as to whether we should transmit a beacon for others to find, it depends on whether you think alien civilizations would be hostile or peaceful. No vegas odd makers would take that bet I imagine. If nothing else Seti@home is a great demonstration of how much PC computing power can be put to use for a popular cause. Maybe we will find something, maybe we won't but at least it is worth a shot anyhow... |
