Personal background |
I'm a retired Automotive Manufacturer Senior Administrative Assistant from Michigan. My main hobby is genealogy, but I've always been interested in astronomy and I'm really excited about participating in the search for ET. I became interested in astronomy as a child, when my father was President of the Astronomical Society in Windsor, Ontario. I remember watching him build his own telescope and seeing the craters of the moon, up close, for the first time. After that, I was absolutely fascinated with the heavens. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I do feel that life exists everywhere throughout the universe, and we'll probably discover life forms on the first planet we can explore more thoroughly, and eventually through signals received by SETI. The benefits would be endless (further cures for disease; fuel; habitation; etc.) And just knowing we're not alone would be the most wonderful feeling imaginable. The danger would be in travelling to and exploring another planet, but we face dangers every day of our lives.
Should we transmit a beacon for others to find? Definitely. You mean we're not?
Why am I involved? I want to participate in the search. And I think the project is a great way to search for intelligent life, without leaving this planet. My only suggestion is to stay at it. It's only a matter of time. |
