Personal background
Hi! I'm Stefan Joosten. I'm from the Netherlands and I am 15 years old. I just love computers and stuff like that. I'm very busy with school right now but that's no reason not te run SETI@Home (CLI version combined with SetiHide).

I'll try to get a picture of me online later, ok?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think that extraterrestrial life does exist. I don't know when we are going to find some of them but i do think we will find planets like Earth by sending unmanned spaceships into space. Or when we find a way to travel at something like lightspeed (hahah Maximum Warp!) we will find other intelligent beings. Benefits and dangers are hard to tell right now. But benefits would be sharing of technology, trade etc. Just helping each other out. The only danger I can think of is some sort of galactical war. And maybe if they are too advanced and hostile it can mean the destruction of the Earth. But I don't think that last one will come true.

Sending a beacon is a nice idea. Maybe we will get a signal back. What we send is not very important. Perhaps we should just send out some morse code. It would be picked up as beeps and they would now that it can't be some star or something.

I run SETI@Home because I just like to see my computer running and aliens would be very cool.
