Five years ago I moved from a heavily populated area in the eastern US to rural Maine. My home sits on the side of a small hill and the view is unobstructed all the way to the horizon. I live in a sparsely populated area and at night the sky is dark and a perfect background on which to see the stars. Their distance from us, and the consistancy of their light, seem like the perfect reminder of how trivial and temporary our "problems" can be.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Wouldn't we be embarrassed to find out that there was life out there but we were too preoccupied to listen?
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
