Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Certainly, the Universe is teeming with life, but I doubt we are fully conscious of its unusual nature yet, since almost all of our experience of life is from living on Earth. I just think the Universe is a far weirder place than we presently believe.

Frankly, I participate in this wonderful project, because it gives me an altruistic feeling of contribution and a sense of virtual belonging. I doubt intelligent technologically-advanced alien species would make much use of radio propagation in this way - some other application of the inherant potential of electrons, seems more likely to me.

I think humanity is still so inexperienced with the Greater Universe, it seems unlikely that intelligent alien species would be much interested in us yet. We are relatively primitive animals who are still fundamentally insensitive, destructive and uncivilised - we cannot yet manage our own affairs competently. However, I believe we will eventually manifest a cosmic destiny, in a Universal Community of intelligent life.
