Personal background
I am a 17 year old, aspireing programmer. For now I am out of work and searching
hard (becuse I need money for books mainly). Mostly any hobby I ahve pertains to
the Sky or electronics. In the spare time I have in the day or on cloudy nights I read, program a lil, or study circuts. If its a clear anough nights ill pull my telescope out and watch the stars though it. Now this making me a night
person with an unusual sleeping habbit people tend tow worry bout me needlessly.
but who knows maybe my hobbys will pay off one day.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Personally yes, Extraterrestrial life does exist. Seriously think of probibility, the chances of Earth being the only inhabitable planet
in this universe is slim to nil, and then teh chances that some
how just on our planet life started and became intellegant... even less.
Now seriously though if we find another alien spicies wahts to say
that they are not hostile... whats to say they are not already here hideing and watching us...
now if we manage to meet an alien spices that is resonable and non-agressive
the benifits with be great leaps and bound in tecnology allowing resonable intersteller exploration, maybe even colonization. the serious risks come
if the spicies is greatly hostile... they might come and fight us. but it doesnt matter, the binifits far ourt wiegh the risks, becuse teh chances are they aliens will be resonable, so why not TRY to make contact. Now the thing is if we try to make contact sending greetings and audio will be near worthless... how would they understand our language. itd probly be more theesable to send
pictures, have the pictures confrom a coherent idea of pice and freindship, maybe even try to use pictures of wome forem to teach the basic sentaxes of the worlds languages in hopes of first contact.. now really that would eb great but for now im content to run seti@home, while my computer is doing little to nothing better, to further a cause I belive in.. i jsut hope they keep this great project up.
