Profile: Nick J Keip

Personal background
Ex-military (21 yrs), grew up in farm country of southern Ontario the 4th son
of an independent plumbing & heating contractor. Now employed by an
aerospace company to provide contracted radio & radar repair service for
the Canadian military. Happily just past my 15th anniversary with my
second spouse and just turned 43 personally. Very proud father of a
21-year-old Newfoundlander who made me a grandfather of one strapping
little man 8 months ago. Have had more than a passing interest in
astronomy, all physical sciences in general and computers pretty much
since I could spell the words.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Having read about SETI for several years, feel it's a very worth-while
activity. Simple odds favour other intelligible life out there some-
where. Contact with, or even just the recognition of, other species
can't help but be informative and perhaps help us understand the human
animal somewhat better. Depending on our luck, I would imagine some
signs of "them" should become known within another decade. This is
NOT because Mr von Daniken predicted a return on Dec 24th, 2011 in his
first book either. If a species is intelligent enough to reach-out to
contact another species, there are better than fair odds that there is
some measure of civilization there as well that is not necessarily
"evil" as the old movies might have it.
