Personal background
I have been a star looker all my life. I go out at night, lie on my back, and gaze at the stars for hours. I imagine I'm looking someone else right in the eye, a light year away. I love to drift away from myself and become part of the sky, sprinkling down upon the earth. Cheesy? Yes. But I like it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe in extraterrestrials. I don't think we'll come across any for a long, long time. I don't think we've ever been visited, but I'm sure there is quite a bit of evidence on the contrary. Something I often think about, is if we do come across alien life forms, I'm curious if they will have a completely different way of thinking. Something that we cannot even fathom because it is beyond our grasp. It's a strange thing to think about, because I will never be able to answer how another life form might possibly think. Maybe though, they would be very similar to us, in thought process and features, but that seems extraordinarily unlikely. Another thing is that they could be all around us, and we would have no idea, maybe they also can't see us...they float about their daily lives, driving to their cities, eating in their restaurants, crapping on their toilets...who knows.
