70 years into second two-thousand year odyssey.
Retired Navy Chief with thirty yrs service
Born in Buffalo, NY, raised in Texas and Alabama, backt to Ny, Joined Navy after hi school. Have Associate Degree- liberal arts
Now roaming the US of A; having seen a lot of the Orient and also some of England and Germany.
SF reader and Trekkie, hiking/backpacking curtailed due to medicines for heart that make direct sunlight/heat/humidity during summer painful. Have to get up early and do walks before the sun gets to hot. Cloudy days in the early morning are especially nice.
Do at least 3 miles every couple of days, sometimes treadmill or walking in the house.
Now have long white hair and beard; sometimes Santa, sometimes hippie.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes ET's are out there. Probability theory makes the case.
We will probably discover them by going out there.
The benefits far outweigh the dangers. The same as for explorers of this planet. Maybe not for individuals always, but for humankind the universe beckons.
2 Yes, Basic numbering systems and as much of the history of this planet as possible. We are doing better all the time. Phooey with the naysayers.

3. Since I am a believer, why not help speed up the process that may answer the question. Of course, I would rather go out there in person. Until a drive is invented, I shall settle for this as a pitiful but valuable substitute. Hope we will get more seriously into travel, now that the Space Station is operational. Back to the Moon and on to ??????????
