Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do beleive extraterrestrial life does exists, I think there is a very slight chance that humans will discover ET in my life time. If we discover ET, I believe we should wait until we are space exploration capable, meaning that we should be able to visit them before they visit us. I believe it would be extremely dangerous for the human race to make contact with them and have them come visit us. For 2 good reason I think we should not contact them until we are ready :

1. The human race would be assorb by ET, meaning with them being technology superior to us what would we have to offer them.

2. Our natural resources and our very planet could become a local gas station to them, I say this jokingly but it could become reality. There would be nothing to stop them from taking everything (like water) the earth has and giving us nothing in return.

If ET is found by someone's home computer, I believe it should be kept secret until some form of plan can be made. I do believe it is important that we find them before they find us. If we find them first it might be possible to keep the human race a secret to them until we are ready to give up our identity and location to them.
