Why do you run SETI@home?
I was aware of the "pulling" of Federal money for the project long before I learned about SETI@HOME. I participate in program for 2 reasons. SETI obviously could use the help, and I believe we are not alone in the Universe. Whether or not the project is eventually sucessful is not important to me. It IS important that we make the effort.
aThoughts about ETI
Yes, I believe there is life other live in the Universe, and more than likely, life of the intelligent variety. Will we find them? Yes, if there is intelligent life, such lifeforms will almost certainly be using radio. We have the technology to detect intelligent life, it's only a matter of time and money.
Should we transmit our signals. Well, if it turns out to be a mistake to do so, lets hope they all Love Lucy.a |
