Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that extraterrestrial life exists. I find impossible that in the greatness of the universe, only one small world like Earth, can preserve life. Statically speaking, at least one more planet should have life. If we where alone, “ it would be an awful waste of space”
The problem is how we will discover the extraterrestrial life. It is obvious that with our current level of technology, we cannot send a mission to the nearest stars, and have results before we die. It’s impossible. The only way we can find proofs is with the help of radio astronomy. I think SETI and SETI@home contribute a lot to that. I also think that more funds should be spent on radio astronomy and astronomy in general, rather than in building a massive destruction weapon.
The moment in time when we will discover E.T. life, I can’t predict it. I think nobody can. I hope that in the next 50 years something will come up. Until then, keep looking, or better keep hearing…
