Personal background
I'm interested in most things to do with Space, - i.e. space travel, the planets and suns in the galaxy, etc, etc, and the SETI project is part of my interest in space. I am sure there must be intelligent life in the universe apart from me.... (grin)
I'm also into creating my own music, since i bought a copy of Acid DJ, - I've even featured the planet earth on the cover of my 3rd album !

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q) Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
My A) I am sure they do exist somewhere out there.....
...it's a big enough universe, there's gotta be
life on more than just this planet....

Q) If so, when and how will humans discover it?

My A) When it will be disciovered... - knowing my luck,
it'll be after i die.... - And i think when they
do it will probably be by accident.

Q) What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a
discovery?

My A) Benefits will be that we'll finally know we are
not alone,
Dangers are that they could consider humans a threat and
will want to attack us. (For an example, see most SF films)

Q) Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
My A) depends on who's recieving the transmission...
if they're nice aliens who also want to know if they're
the only life in the universe too, then yes.. keep yelling.
But if they're nasty aliens who are looking for new
sources of food and water (See SF films such as Alien, V,
Starship Troopers, etc... hehehe) then No... shut ya mouth
now, they may hear you.

Q) If so, what information should we send?
My A) Just the basic stuff, really, - pictures, sounds, etc...

Q) Why do you run SETI@home?
My A) Because i find it interesting, and would be highly
delighted if it was in the data downloaded and scanned on
my PC that the first signals of intelligent life were found.
I'd become so well known, they'd name a planet after me or
something... hehehehe

Q) What are your views about the project?
My A) It's probably a big waste of time, but then you won't
know otherwise unless you try... - Go for it... maybe we'll
get lucky and discover that the Star Trek universe is just
like ours... hehehe

Q) Any suggestions?
My A) Yes, i'll write a list and post them on....
