I live in a quiet country town ~60 KM outside of Sydney Australia, have just turned 32, & work primarily in the IT field (I took an interest in computers at the age of 10, & have worked with computers for most of my adult life :)
I started a non-profit ISP in 1995 (As there was nothing available in my area at the time), & have enjoyed many years of providing this service to my local community.
I am currently a full time parent (Bub turned 1yo in October), I do contract work in my "spare" time (as well as looking after the ISP :), while my wife is a fulltime school teacher.
My hobbies include computers (surprise!), electronics, cars (vintage), music (50's, 60's & 70's mostly), camping/bush walking, Science Fiction, Horror Movies, & Space/ET.

There is no doubt in my mind that ET is out there, & has probably already visited our world - the universe is simply too big for us to be the only intelligent life!
I don't think we will make 'contact' with ET until our world leaders get over their petty squabbling for power/land, & start putting the interests of HUMANITY as a whole above the interests of the minority/individual. Our planet is just one out of countless billions, squabbling over 'ownership' of parts of it seems futile, & irrelevent to me.
Society has to evolve a lot more before most will be able to 'handle' the reality of ET, the ramifications on religion alone is simply mind boggling in itself - I feel that humanity contacting ET before we are ready could be devastating to mankind, & possibly result in our demise. Personally (& I'm sure many others), are already mentally equipped to cope with this - My only hope for this is that it happens in my lifetime (without the end of us ;)
My biggest concern about when it happens is the nature of ET - Will they be friendly or hostile? Or come across as friendly, & betray/destroy us? Maybe they're already amoungst us? (Sorry, I've watched way too many Sci-fi movies - covering all 4 of the above scenerio's )
