Personal background
Im 14 years old, and I build/work with computers in my free time. The current main computer I have is a :

Pentium 4 1.8 ghz
GeForce 3 Nvidia
384 mb PNY Rambus Ram
4 Case fans/ 2 slot fans
Custom made CPU heatsink mounted with massive fan.

Case cutted blow holes all over the case, which are almost done being added and sanded. I have 2 more computers that IM setting up tonight for this SETI project, they are 700mhz durons - cruddy GFX cards, 256 ram, custom built. They will run side by side, and I need to add more fans as all these with stay on 24/7. Also soon to be running is a Mac new Ibook 600mhz 640mb ram running OSX, and possibly two AMD XP 1700 s with 256 ram ( all DSL connected ). Building a 600mhz cyrix system tonight, and putting final touches on a k6-2 300mhz system, all running out of my basement for this project ( cept one more I own running as a server ).

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I belive extraterrestrial life exisit. Think of the size of this universe... If enough varibles came together to make life on earth possible, then what are the chances somewhere else it was too? The univernse is expanding, and thus the chance is even greater as time goes on. Dangers would be unability to understand and communicate with the beings, and thus hostility.

2. I think that the idea of trasmiting a beacon is good, but what are the odds that they speak a language like us. Even math, as a universal language, what if they are from another demension and our math is all " wrong to them " or they interpret it differently? I cant hurt to try though. I would send poems, great books ( classics ) bible/koran/tora.and other things close to humans.

3. Because Its a good idea, and i belive that by donating my computer im helping advance human kinds ever evolving goal to learn more and explore outwards.

Nice idea, nice prject =]
