Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I suspect that extraterrestrial life must exist. When and where we will find it, I don't know. If extraterrestrial life does not exist, I would view this as proof positive, that God must exist as the odds would be too small for anything else to be the case.

I don't think that there are any inherent dangers in discovering extraterrestrial life. It seems unlikely to me that we would face extinction a la 1950's pulp science fiction. The most likely danger would be a cultural absorption similar to that we have seen on this little orb, when a more "advanced" civilization has come into contact with others less "advanced"

I run SETI@home simply as a scientific contribution.
