Personal background
Hello i'm Ron Schwartz,

I live in a small town called Kampen in The Netherlands.
I'm not working at the moment because off illnes but i worked as a network engineer or administrator during a 15 year period.
So at the moment i'm busy with my hobby's and they are:
Reptiles, Orchids and offcourse my computers.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there is a great possibility that life exists on other planets.
I think that a journey to the planets outside our solar system not will be possible in my lifetime if ever, so contact must be made by other means - Radio waves are a good possibility. To find a radio signal from out there is extremely difficult
I run SETI@home because i hope that someday we will find something.
The SETI-project is maybe not a project that deals with the primary needs of our planet, but the need to know if their is something out there is a nice thing to fullfill.
And i'm sure that this huge project has done some groundbreaking new discoveries in the technological sphere also.
The way to make distributed processing work with such a large number of members is a unicum.
This knowledge could be used to a lot of other projects who needs such awesome processing power as provided by such a large kwantity off computers.
