Personal background
Hi There!
Well, this is the first draft of my profile. As soon as I find something more interesting, I'll update it.
My name is Pablo. I'm 28 and I'm from Argentina. I work for an international consulting firm as IT Specialist. My first contact with a computer was when I was 6 years old, when my parents bought me a TI99/4A. Then I switched to a C128 and then to PC platform.
I love all related to Space Science in general.I think I got involved in all that when I saw for the first time Cosmos by Carl Sagan, and after reading the book. I was an attendee for a week at the U.S. Space Academy, Level II in Huntsvile, AL.
Then I meet one of my best friends, who introduced me to HAM Radio and Digital Packet Commms. That's when I started to comprehend how important are communications.
One of my hobbies right know is SCUBA Diving.
Well that's all for now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) YES, I do believe in ET life, of any form. It's possible that most of it has nothing to do with common earthly biological process. Or maybe yes. Who knows.
If you can find creatures adapted to live at 11km in the bottom of the sea via synthesis of sulphure emaned from hydrothermal sources at 200 degrees celcious...then why cannot exist life (bacteriae) in Venus for example?
When will we discover it...I don't know. It's possible when sending a probe to a planet...or maybe in micrometeorites in Antarctica. The benefits or dangers depend on wich hands all the information ends.

2)Definitely YES...although we've sending this beacons since the first VHF transmision. If we're to send an important beacon, we should use power, and send information not too complex. I don't think is important to send some sort of complex pattern, informing our DNA structure, and things like that. We should focus in getting attention. The signal should be the simplest one, and then we should attempt to embedd information in it.

3)I find it very important to participate in a project worldwide. And above all,
I can't believe that for one time all humans can agree on a purpose, and go toward it's direction. However I don't think we will find proof of ET intelligence in this way. The odds are very against us. We should be listening at the right spot, at the right time, and during the lenghth of the supposed transmission, wich could be in a 90% accidental, or residual....and should have enough intensity and clarity to detect it.
But hey, I will give it a try anyway...
