Personal background
Computers have become sort of a job/hobby for me; people give me money and I build them computers. I also do free tech support for friends and their friends.

I've also been fascinated with the stars. I couldn't pass up the chance to be a part of this. I'm actually competing with a friend to see how many work-units we can complete... he has twice as many as I do (EDIT: Not anymore!), but he's allowed to leave his computers running all night....

Mine include:

MAIN SYSTEM:

AMD Athlon XP 1700 266FSB @ 180x12=2260MHz

512MB DDR2700

ATI Radeon 8500LE 250/250 @ 290/290

Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM ATA-133 HDD

50X CD-ROM

running Windows 2000 Pro

SERVER:

DAD'S COMPUTER

AMD Athlon 1000/200FSB @ 100*10 = 1000MHz

256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM

NVIDIA GeForce3 Classic

Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM HDD

50X CD-ROM

running Windows 2000 Pro

...both of which are running SETI@Home, lending it all of their spare CPU cycles. I have other computers, but they're too slow/too unreliable to be worth mentioning.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It's really cool to be a part of this. I have a small chance of finding something (though if anything is found there's a 99.98% (est.) chance of Sun Microsystems or some other large corporation with a lot of networked supercomputers finding it). Oh, well, i have a chance.
