Personal background
I live in the United States and work as a certification analyst for an online service company. I am a big fan of "classic rock", blues , "classic sci-fi movies" (but definitely not a TREKKIE)and Formula 1 Racing. My hobbies/interests include: astronomy (90mm refractor, 8" refractor), guitar (98 Strat, 68 Gibson ES-330, 05 Les Paul), cars (1962 Ferrari 250 GTO/LM- in my dreams)and movies.
I enjoy a beer and a laugh also!

I'm back! After an absence of about 5 years, I have started doing units again.

Update 11-27-18 : And about 5 years after the above sentence, I'm back again. I retired 2 1/2 years ago and I am still dreaming of the Ferrari 250 GTO/LM.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
(From 1990) I read about Seti@Home about 3 years ago but the PC I had at the time didn't meet the system requirements so I couldn't run the software. I upgraded to a new PC a while back and one of the first things I did was download the Seti@Home software. I hit 500 units a few days ago.
I believe the project is worthwhile for several reasons. Distributed computing is a very efficient way to crunch numbers if you don't have a few supercomputers and since my PC would be idle about 97% of the time, why not?
I believe that it is almost impossible for us to be alone in the cosmos and that there may be thousands of civilizations out there searching for each other.

12/26/2018 - I still believe there is life elsewhere in the cosmos. SETI@home is one of the very few ways I can help in the search for that life.
