Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't think, I know that ET life exists. When we will discover it depends not only on them, but also on our open mind. We couldn't tell if communication would be established through our standard means of communication. Who knows, maybe they communicate using other forms of communication that we don't even recognise. Who knows if life out there has the same time recognition like we do ? Maybe for them, 1 year is what for us 1 minute is.. maybe they are extreemly slow and we can't recognize their signals because of that and maybe they are so fast that we can't even detect their communication or we think that that are only spikes. Benefits could be enormous, but it would bring benefit only to those who payed license rights to knowledge from aliens.. dangers are much bigger because we are at very low point of development. We should definitely transmit signals arround, maybe someone would pick it up. It is dangerous, but also possibly good for us. We should send information somewhat like on Voyager - from everything a little pieces and bits. I run SETI@home because I want to help in a way that I can. Project is great. Just keep the good work...
