I'm 50 years young. I do System Admin on Unix systems.
I live in 'the hills' outside of Melbourne with the gum trees and cockatoos.
For someone who likes to look at trees,
I spend a lot of time in front of a monitor
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. There is little doubt that extraterrestrial life exists,
I am sure that we will find much distributed across the galaxy
should we ever be able to visit. I think that the odds are against
finding intelligent life in *this* galaxy. I expect intelligent
life to be very widely scattered with short survival times.
2. Why not? Anyone who had 'easy' interstellar travel would have
sufficient technology that we wuld have little they would want.
We should send all the information we can as it may be our only epitaph.
3. I run SETI because I could be wrong. I hope I am.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
