Personal background
Hi. I'm from East Yorkshire, England and have always had a passion for space exploration and finding out the answer to the big question, is there life out there? I spend a lot of time working with computers and, since the age of 7, my study has looked like the control room for pretty much half the planet. I'm interested in pretty much everything computer and, three years ago, I built an electronic dice and from then on I've also had a huge interest in electronics, which, one day, I'd like to make a career of. My current projects are a Linux box controlled Coke pipeline for automatic refreshment when sysadmining late into the night and an audio sampler.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I once listened to a radio show here in the UK about the mysteries of extraterrestrial life and one caller's point was that if the universe is forever expanding then the probability of life elsewhere has to be 1. I'm no maths professor but I'm sure you get the basic idea without me having to go into detail. I've never been abducted by aliens or seen a UFO, etc, but I do believe that, somewhere out there, life exists. I'd like to meet some aliens and I'd be fantastic if sometime today a big ship landed in my back garden but no hostiles please - despite the state of the lawn.

I first ran SETI@home several years ago and only remembered about it recently when a computing magazine was using it as a benchmark program. That day I downloaded the SETI client and have run it ever since on pretty much every computer I can find. Good luck alien hunting guys!
