Profile: Mike Gentry

Personal background
I'm from the hills of Eastern Kentucky, which is usually thought of as backwards
and not understanding of technology. Very aggravating for a BSEE who designs
FSNs (Full Service Networks, you know, Voice, Video, and Data over your phone
line or a fiber optic cable) for the rural telephone companies in KY. Maybe one
day we will shed this stereotype.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there has to be extraterrestrial life out there. How else did planet
earth get it's life. Think at how life finds islands in the sea. We could be
the most technically advanced (I doubt it) species, but it must be somewhere.
We have been broadcasting a beacon ever since the first radio program, so if any
intelligent life passes by, maybe we might get a visit. Anyhow, I'll do my
little part for mankind.
