Profile: Togger

Personal background
I am a retired NASA contractor who has worked on such projects as LANDSAT, HUBBLE Space Telescope,COBE and others. I spent 15 years in the USAF, including duty as a computer maintenance technician in SAGE (on the AN/FSQ-7 computer) and thence to NORAD (Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado Springs - on the Philco 2000/212 computer supporting the 425L and 496L systems). I am familiar with SETI by way of the photographic darkroom equipment designed by Paul Horowitz.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the harnessing of all the idle PC processing power that exists is an all together very good thing. I think it would be fantastic if it were somehow applied to orher areas of research, such as the search for various disease. Cancer research comes to mind.
