Personal background
I am from the USA. I live near Washington, DC. my age is 25, i work for the gov't, as for hobbies i am into science fiction writing ( i write some scifi poems), working on helping the environment, i hike and camp. I am interested in helping people get back to nature and i want to help people try to see the relationship between nature and technology. With all the bad occurences happening in the world, we need to re-define ourselves in the new millenuim.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. life outside our own knowledge exists. i cannot begin to try and pin a date on when we will discover it but we won't discover it. It will discover us. Both sides of the coin can be played on whether ET's are good or bad. As for benefits we could be given new insights into terrible evils that aflict our civilization. As for dangers we could be destroyed by alien's making their presence known.

2. We should transmit some kind of beacon. I believe the Viking probe in the 1970s launched a beacon that had all kinds of examples of the good of the human race. If we launched more of these rockets into space at different directions that would be better than just one.

3. I want to be apart of a grand experiment. I believe that SETI is one of the few pure space research multi-computational projects running today. I believe that SETI should run advertisement in newspapers, and commercials on TV around the world to ignite the world population into a common endeavour.
