Personal background
I have been running Seti@Home for over 4 years but only in a limited capacity. I have recently increased my output
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I shall be boring here and just anser the suggested questions:

1 Yes, extraterrestrial life exists we just need to find it (or them us). Humans will discovery it either by accident or when they decide to visit. Benefits would be increased knowledge of technology (space travel) and the dangers would be that governments would "screw" it up!

2 Possibly, but we already transmit radio signals into space. The information would have to be simple so as not to be mis-understood.

3 I run Seti@Home because it will, eventually, find something and no one else (governments) are doing it as far as I know. The project its self is great and should continue. Keep up the good work.
