Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Races can meet 1. outer space 2. at human planet 3. at alien's planet
I believe the law of "stronger dog", so I hope the first meeting won't be at Earth.
Human even can't communicate with each other. I think we won't able to communicate with alien races in close time. Maybe if they study English...

So human must spread out. But if a race wants to fight with alien races(in worst case), it should have a strong back(hinterland). Now it is weak. If a terrorist gets infected himself with Ebola and visits an airport in San Francisco, L.A, N.Y.,Milan, London, Moscow,Peking, etc, ...so you can imagine it would be more than tragedy. It is a real danger.
But can not liquidate all of terrorists. And only one can make biggest troubles if gets closer to power. We must accept their needs if we want to live. We must feed millions of hungry children world wide. Our responsibility to answer their questions. After a few generation Earth may be ready to discover outer spaces and to conquer new planets. More than sad to see the money flying out from Earth, what could solve the problem of millions. And there are more fatal problems on Earth. And everyone seems to be deaf and blind.

I run SETI@home project because I wanted to take part an Earth-wide project.
50 years ago (only 1 generation ago) human couldn't solve a project like this.
Collaboration is the way of future.
