I'm located in Southern New Jersey and am a consultant in electrical engineering. I have a Master's in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. I am also a Radio Amateur (call letters--W2IRS)with an Extra Class license. I am glad to be of service to your noble effort. I have always an interest in the SETI program (even before it was named). Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes - Who knows? - Don't think there is any danger - Not sure about benefits.
2. Why not - Can they be much worse than we are to ourselves !
3. I guess you need all the computer power you can get and I'll try to contribute. All for the project. Lets get as much interest as possible.
