Personal background
I've just moved to the Northern Califonia coast, from Los Angeles. It's quite a change of lifestyle but I'm loving every minute of it. I was laid off from Clear Channel Interactive 3 days before Christmas, so I now am re-inventing myself between the crash of the surf and the grandeur of the redwoods.

I'm 41, into radio (part-timer at KOZT), kayaking, gourmet cooking, redheads and red wine. I also was a founder of the Artist Underground independent music site.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do hope that we are not alone - to paraphrase from the film Contact - If we're alone in the universe, it seems like an awful waste of space.

I'm not in favor of transmitting a beacon to attract others. Look what we've done by transmitting long range sonar signals - we've been deafening whales. Besides, we broadcast so much much info as it is... I'm sure we're quite a beacon already.

I think SETI@home is someting I can do on my own to contribute for the greater good.
