| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think <font>intelligence is not constrained</font> to the human beings. Hope, we can find it outside but not sure :-) The <font>only way to test it is to compute</font> and compute .... nevertheless, <font>even if we won't be able to resolve this problem, scanning through the data makes sense for particular astronomical discoveries, not related to SETI</font>.
<font>There is no reason to think about E.T. life in the terms of Earth's life.</font> I don't think sending some information about our position and our knowledge is the only way to contact us. If there is an extraterrestrial life, we have three chances:
(1)
they don´t know about us,
(2)
they have no reason to contact us,
(3)
we don't understand them.
IMHO, the best we can do is advancing our science and technology to make more things possible, to get a chance.
