Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that there are other planets with intellegent lif on the and believe that we will make first contact before they do. I feel that the benefits of meeting other species will come from communication and technology.The single fact of actually making first contact would make a huge difference in how we percieve ourselfs and what the repocusions of this may be. my one fear of first contact is how we as individuals will deal with such an event and more worrying, how governments will treat this new nformation.History has shown that governments react generaly in a negative way to unknown elements and tend to assume the worst.
I think that the seti project is the best chance given current technology to find evedence of other intellegent life and I am happy to support the programme in any way I can
