Personal background
Currently I am a full-time student at Missouri State University pursuing a BS in Computer Information Systems and hold down a full-time job. At age 36, this is quite challenging.

In my spare time (such as it is), I like to play Warhammer 40k (Kill the aliens!! lol) which is a tabletop miniatures war game set in the 41 millinieum.

When I'm not doing that, I'm writing computer programs to try and make life simpler and more enjoyable for humanity, and ET when they get here...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definately think there is extraterrestrial life out there, and it is only a matter of time before we find them, or they find us (much more likely). I think when we do make contact with them, we will find that they are much more advanced than we are, and will try to guide us into our destiny. Knowing humanity though, we will over react and feel threatened by this. The challenge will be to find leaders who can handle the situation without allowing it to escalate to an unfortunate conclusion...

We probably should start transmitting a beacon soon, to aid in first contact, although the recent transition of our probe to interstellar space is a good first step. Who knows, maybe it will be discovered by ET, and used to backtrack to our position. Then, we wouldn't have to find them...

I love Seti@home. I run the CLI with SetiSpy to monitor it, so as to maximize the output from my system. I can't wait for the next version to come out; it will really improve things, if handled properly.
