Profile: Carlos Mari

Personal background
Hi all!

I'm Carlos Mari, 31 and originally from Caracas, Venezuela. I migrated to Sydney, Australia a few years ago and when registering in SETI I chose to have my results accounted for Venezuela, as there's far too many computers running SETI in the land of Down Under!

I have worked with computers since I was a kid and have been on-line since the golden days of modems at 2400bps, when Internet was not yet a household word and an Apple IIe was "the computer". I'm currently employed as lead developer for an e-commerce corporation in Sydney.

I'm married and I'm also the proud dad of a 16-month old toddler: Gabriel. They're all the family I've got this side of the world.
My hobbies include scuba-diving, Gabriel, computer programming, reading and movies, specially those cult movies that you seldom get to see in a theatre. I had more hobbies back in Venezuela, but things are different when you become a dad. It actually gets better all the time! ;-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
E.T may or may not exist, but one thing is clear: if we never start to find them, there's no chance we'll know for sure.
It's a fascinating project to unite computing resources towards a common goal, and SETI@home proves mankind can work together as one. I'm happy to contribute with my resources and hope to hear news of E.T in the near future.
I do hope E.T doesn't get the wrong idea about us humans. Some of us are not worthy of belonging to our species, but as a whole, we're one colourful and interesting bunch. Maybe I'll share a pint with E.T if I get the chance!
