Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
In a whirlwind of change over the last couple of years, SETI@home has always remained a constant. It ran on my single computer when I had a 33.6 modem and a dedicated analog line in my apartment, it ran on three of them when I had a home office with an ISDN line, and it still runs on two over the 56K modem connection that came with university employment.
Always analyzing, ever searching for the elusive WOW signal that will tell me that I, Corwin, have succeeded in finding evidence of alien intelligence. Until then, it is a pretty glow in an otherwise darkened den, beckoning me, hypnotically, to sit before it. |
