Personal background
I am retired from the local telephone company. I had several jobs, but the
longest was maintaining many of the computer systems and telephone switches used
in the Operator Services Division.

Astronomy has been a hobby of mine for years. When I learned of setiathome, I
was pleased to be able to participate.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that extraterrestrial life does exist. We may not find it for a
number of years, but we will eventually. As far as being dangerous or not, it
really doesn't matter. Contact will come whether we want it to or not. I only
hope that it provides mankind with benefits and not evil.

It is our destiny to expand into space someday. A beacon for others to find
should be created. We already generate a lot of electromagnetic energy from
the planet, so a beacon wouldn't really give much away.

Whether there is life in the universe or not, we won't find it if we don't look.
That is why I want to help out in the search.
